 Autumn Week 4

We have had a very exciting week this week in Reception! We read 'Owl Babies' and created our own puppets using feathers and sticks and we used them to retell the story. We made chocolate nests for the owl babies (made out of white chocolate buttons) and we talked about heating up the chocolate, melting and setting. It was a very wet and windy week this week but that didn't stop us getting our waterproofs and wellies on and going to have fun outside! One day we went into the Forest School area and made nests and pictures using the natural materials that we could find in the environment. We started our Phonics sessions this week and we now know the sounds 'm' 'a' 's' 'd' and 't'. Next week we will be going for a walk around Wigton.

Below is a link to the 'Owl Babies' story if you would like to read it with your children.

Autumn Week 3

We have had a lovely week in Reception this week learning all about our families! We read 'The Big Book of Families' and know that all families are different. We painted our house and created a Lolly stick family home picture for our display. We Have been going into the hall for assembly where all of the children sat beautifully and we are learning songs about Harvest in our weekly year group singing assembly. We read 'Its Ok To Be Different' and we talked bout how we are all different to people around us, there were some great contributions from the children. We are looking forward to learning all about 'Owl Babies' next week. Well Done Reception!

Autumn Week 2

This week we have been learning all about our feelings, we read 'The Colour Monster' and talked about what makes us feel happy, sad, scared, angry, excited etc. We sung songs about feelings during circle time and made cards for our friends who might be feeling upset or sad. We used lots of different colours to create our own colour monsters by colour mixing. We had our first singing assembly together with Mrs Coulthard where we sung songs about Harvest and Autumn. This week we all really enjoyed choosing time inside and outside the classroom during our free flow activities in continuous provision. We are looking forward to learning all about families next week. Well Done Reception!

Autumn Week 1

Well done to all of the reception children this week on completing your very first week at Wigton Infant School!

We are extremely proud of all the boys and girls this week and we are very excited for the year ahead. This week we spent time getting to know our new teachers and friends whilst learning the day-to-day routines. We had a tour round the school and playground and met Mrs Lloyd our new headteacher. We had very good manners in the lunch hall remembering to say please and thank you. We created our own class rules and talked about making good choices and had our first PE lesson outside. Well Done, Reception!

We also post regular updates in Tapestry and on our Facebook page, please take a look!
